With over 20 years of experience, and as the acting Head of the Rome Office of the Jacobacci law firm, Claudia deals with both contentious and non-contentious matters relating to patents and utility models, copyright, unfair competition and trade marks. In particular, she has acquired in-depth knowledge of both judicial and contractual tools for the protection of software, know-how, and patents, providing assistance to both large international companies and Italian small and medium enterprises.
In the area of media and entertainment, Claudia has significant expertise in the protection of name and image rights, and has advised clients on product placement and financing in the film industry. In 2008, she was a visiting foreign lawyer at the firm Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP in Century City (Los Angeles), where she worked in the Entertainment, Media and Technology Department. She co-authored the publication ‘2011 Report. The market and industry of cinema in Italy’, edited by ‘Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo’, having written the chapter ‘The evolution of Product Placement – New Tools to reduce the area of potential failure and maximize the investment’.
In relation to anti-counterfeiting activities, she assists Italian and foreign clients in the preparation of customised IP protection strategies. In particular, she has extensive experience in the food and tobacco sectors. In 2011, she participated in the technical table of The European House – Ambrosetti, concerning a study on the legal criticalities and impact of the chain of legislative review regulating the tobacco sector in Europe.
Claudia graduated in law with honours in 1995 from the University of Rome. She was admitted to the (Rome) Bar in 1998 and to the Supreme Court, Italy, in 2012.
Claudia regularly lectures in post-graduate and master programmes, and often acts as a speaker at seminars on IP issues. Since 2008, she has collaborated with the consulting firm Tibicon, with which she co-authored of the publication: ‘Is trade-mark right-winger or left-winger? The role of intellectual property in the strategy of Italian political parties’ (2008 and 2012).
She is currently a member of EPLAW and LES (Licensing Executives Society) and, within LESI (LES International), she is a member of WILA, the Women In Licensing Alliance Committee. She is responsible for the Pro Bono working group of Jacobacci law firm, which is a member of the association Pro Bono Italia.
