JA IP Symposium 2026: Towards the future of European Intellectual Property – Turin, 12 June 2026

Written by Studio Legale Jacobacci & Associati | June 15, 2026

On Friday 12 June, we hosted our third Intellectual Property Symposium at our Turin office. The day focused on the future of intellectual property, with the aim of promoting collaboration and the exchange of innovative ideas among lawyers and patent attorneys from Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.

The programme provided valuable insights, beginning with an exploration of the new era of intellectual property litigation and technology transfer, alongside an in-depth analysis of the interactions between UPC invalidity proceedings and opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office (EPO). The first practical experiences with long arm jurisdiction (BSH/Electrolux) and the key principles of technology transfer from Swiss universities were also analysed.

A second focus was the shift from corporate assets to artificial intelligence and creators’ rights. In this context, the relationship between employee inventions and trade secrets under Austrian law was discussed in depth, as was the most recent case law on generative AI across various EU jurisdictions and the latest updates on copyright and dynamic injunctions in the fashion and creative sectors under Austrian and Belgian law.

Events such as this one are organised to create meaningful networking opportunities and encourage high-level discussions about intellectual property.
