Written by Studio Legale Jacobacci & Associati | June 10, 2026

We are pleased to announce that Fabrizio Jacobacci, Daniela Gervasio, and Laura Di Tecco, will be taking part in the first Lisbon Patents & Standards Conference (Lisbon PSC 2026), which will take place on 19 June 2026 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Ten judges from the Unified Patent Court (UPC), representing various contracting member states, will attend the conference, as will leading patent specialists. This unique event will bring together professionals from a range of jurisdictions to discuss the future of patent protection and innovation in Europe, providing a valuable opportunity to engage with leading figures in the sector.

Fabrizio Jacobacci will play an active role in the event by moderating "Panel 3: Assertion Strategies Before the UPC – Choose Your Weapons Wisely".

This panel will focus on a strategically sensitive aspect of the UPC regime: determining the scope of protection and choosing the venue in which to enforce one’s patent rights. Key issues to be discussed include the selection of patents to be asserted, the choice of competent court and the need to coordinate strategies at a global level. These are crucial elements for patent holders and litigation professionals which must be carefully considered when deciding to take action, particularly given the broad territorial scope of UPC decisions.

Designed as a premier platform for professionals, judges and innovators, the Lisbon PSC 2026 aims to foster the exchange of views and analyse the most significant case law decisions handed down during the UPC’s first years of operation. It also promotes debate on key strategic issues and encourages in-depth reflection on the future prospects of the European patent system.
