Massimo has extensive experience in the protection of IPRs both in and out-of-court, and his practice covers the subject areas of trademarks, patents, design, know-how and software, as well as anti-counterfeiting, customs protection and litigation before the Courts of the European Union.
Massimo also has significant experience in negotiating and drafting international commercial agreements, such as licensing, distribution, R&D and franchising agreements, etc.
He provides assistance in M&A transactions, especially when IP is the main driver of the deal. Massimo also handles the IP-side due diligence for these types of matters, with experience acting for both purchaser and seller.
Massimo also supports his clients in the area of corporate compliance, with particular reference to issues related to Legislative Decree 231/01, privacy and personal data protection (GDPR), whistleblowing, etc..
Finally, Massimo works extensively with the legal aspects of the valuation of intangible assets and taxation, assisting with appraisals, company valuations, revaluation of company assets and Italian Patent Box matters.
Massimo assists companies of different sizes, from SMEs to multinationals, belonging to different sectors such as pharmaceutical, cosmetics, biotechnology, fashion and luxury, electronics and software development, automotive, mechanical, and food/wine.
Professional Experience
Massimo joined the firm in 2009 and became a partner in 2020. Now Managing Partner of the Milan office, Massimo operates across both the Milan and Turin locations.
Before joining Jacobacci Avvocati, Massimo completed an internship in the legal department of Marelli Europe S.p.A. (formerly Magneti Marelli S.p.A.).
Education and Teaching
Massimo graduated from the L. Bocconi University of Milan in 2009.
In 2020/2021, he participated in the postgraduate specialisation course entitled 'Computer Crime and Digital Investigations' organised by the University of Milan.
In 2023, he completed the postgraduate course in 'European Patent with unitary effect' organised by the University of Milan.
Professional Affiliations
Massimo has been a member of the Naples Bar Association since 2012.
Massimo, who is already a member of the Board of Directors of ACBGroup S.p.A. for the three-year period 2022-2024, was re-elected as a member of the Board of Directors for the fiscal year 2025.
Massimo is currently a member of several IP associations, including LES International, LES Italia, AIPPI and INDICAM (where he is a member of the Legal Group).
Massimo is also a member of the Corporate Heritage Committee of AmCham Italy (American Chamber of Commerce in Italy). where he chairs the AI Working Group.
Publications and Recognition
Massimo has participated as a speaker in numerous seminars, conferences and webinars, including, for example, his presentation at the 2025 AIPPI World Congress held in Yokohama, Japan, entitled “Super Duper, you are not gonna find me! Unauthorised use of trade marks and other IP rights by influencers”. He has published various commentary articles on IP-related topics and court decisions.

Massimo is also the co-author, together with Fabrizio Jacobacci, of the comparative guide to Intellectual Property in Italy published in 2023, 2024 and 2025 by The Legal 500.
He is also co-author of the article ‘Towards the end of “mitigated instrumentality” in industrial property law: a critical analysis of the judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union (Case C-132/25)’, published in SPRINT, 2026.
