Our senior associate, Stefano Vergano, will be speaking at the multidisciplinary conference, "The Importance of Being... Turin - The Protection of Trademarks and PGIs/PDOs from Local Roots to the Global Stage". The conference will focus on the technical, regulatory, and marketing aspects of promoting, protecting, and safeguarding PGIs, PDOs, and registered trademarks containing geographical names.
Stefano's presentation is entitled “The Value of Origin: the use of the term Turin in private trademarks from 1800 to the present day”.
Organised by the Turin Vermouth Consortium in conjunction with CONVIVI, OICCE, UGIVI, the Turin Academy of Agriculture and the Turin Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held at the University of Turin's Valino campus.
Taking the term 'Turin' as its case study, the conference will provide a comprehensive overview, allowing for the analysis and presentation of current best practices, existing international risks and the potential for the greater protection and promotion of designations of origin, geographical indications and collective marks in the agri-food sector containing a geographical term.
