Our partner, Marco Francetti (past president and current Council member), and our senior associate, Elena Prandoni, will be attending the LIDC (International League of Competition Law) Congress in Vienna, Austria, from 9 to 12 October 2025.
The legal agenda will cover antitrust, intellectual property, and unfair commercial practices, paying particular attention to the digital and green transitions. Other key topics include sports, dark patterns, foreign direct investment (FDI), branded products, artificial intelligence, and the unitary patent.
The congress, in particular, focused on two central issues: the importance of addressing the abuse of relative market power — beyond traditional market dominance — as a means of safeguarding effective competition, and the responsibilities that online platforms should take on in preventing infringements driven by users, particularly with regard to intellectual property and unfair competition.
They will both take part in the panel discussion on the responsibilities of online platforms. Elena is one of the national rapporteurs for the Italian chapter of the LIDC Springer series, which is related to this discussion.
